Brow POWER LIFT Pencil! itCosmetics review!

Hello ladies! Today i wanted to share with you a product i have had for a while and i used to use it like crazy and i just recently picked it up again and guess what? I’ve been using it like crazy. Its the “it Cosmetics Brow Power Lift Jumbo Pencil.” It’s double sided, one is a pearlescent highlight, and the other side is a bright matte highlight. Even though it says BROW power lift, it can also be used on other parts of your face and lips too! (I think the pearl side would look beautiful on your cupids bow) I am a fan of both! Since the pearly side seems more for when i’m going out or just feel like i need some extra shine. While the matte side is a great everyday useable brightening color.

image

Both sides of this pencil are very creamy and blendable in texture, so you don’t have to worry about having a harsh obvious line, as long as you blend it out!

image

image

You can use them separately like i use them or you can use them both together overlapping the pearl over the matte color. Here are some swatches on my arm:

image

As you can see here, the pearl is more of a translucent color that could be used on pretty much any skin tone, while the matte color is pretty nude/pink/peach. It would depend on your skin tone whether or not you could use this side’s color, on me for instance, it hardly shows up at all and really only leaves me with a brightening effect. I did my eyebrows and applied each side of the pencil on each of my eye brows to show you all!

image

(Pearlescent side)

image

(Matte side)

You can barely see any product applied underneath my brow on the matte side picture but you can see the slight brightening effect. The pearly side really livens up your eyes and is very flattering beneath the brow. I think you should definitely try this for yourself if you’re looking for a product to brighten up your eyes!

It’s Primer Time! Review & Compare FLOWER, SMASHBOX and E.l.f!

So i wanted to talk about different face primers today! I have three here we are going to compare and review. I also have swatches to show you differences in consistency & texture, and swatches of color over the primers. If you’re interested, keep reading!

image

Primer 101

When it comes to using a primer, a lot goes a long way no matter what brand you use. You’re trying to achieve light coverage as a base for your makeup to hold onto to, and you want to start from the center of your face and work outwards.

How does primer work?

  • Evens/smoothes out your skins imperfections
  • Enlongates the wear of your makeup

Are there different kinds of primers?

Yes! Hydrating/moisturizing primers for dry skin, matte primers for more oil prone skin, anti aging primers for creased/aged skin, discoloration correcting primers for skin imperfections/birth marks, neutral primers for combination skin etc.

When to apply a primer

In between applying your moisturizer & your makeup/foundation.

Can i use face primer for my eyeshadow?

There are different types of primers for different areas of your face. For the most part eyelid primers cannot be used as face primer, because of its thicker texture. However, most face primers can be used as eye primers. So YES! As long as the ingredients are safe to use near your eyes.

Now, here are some swatches for you to check out:

image

Here you can see the texture, color etc. of these primers. Here is my opinion on each since i am able to actually feel the consistency of them, smell them etc..

FLOWER Perfecting Primer: Extremely slick, applies nicely, moisturizing, smells fresh and clean like a face wash.

SMASHBOX Photo Finish: Velvety soft texture, smooth, matte. virtually no smell detected.

E.l.f Pore-less Primer: Texture is a lot like a face lotion. Application appears more like a thicker creme, or sunscreen. Smell is a bit unusual, like astringent/sunscreen. May be bothersome to some people.

Here are some examples of the same eyeshadow over the three separate primers after they have dried. (I used eyeshadow since foundation would be much harder for you all to see)

image

As you can see above, FLOWER’s primer really made that color bold and it stuck smoothly and evenly to the primer swatch beneath it. SMASHBOX’s primer has created a more natural lighter look to this color, but none the less smooth and nice in appearance. Finally, E.l.f’s primer seemed like it clumped the color in some areas, and was lighter in other spots. Don’t know if i’ll be using this one again, being the cheapest of the three i sort of expected it. So, in regards to applying foundation over these primers, FLOWER’s will really give you a full face & even dewy look, SMASHBOX’s will give you a overall more natural looking matte face. I would not recommend purchasing E.l.f’s.

Poison Purple & Ocean Blue Lips!

So i’ve been looking through a lot of beautiful, kind of crazy lip color combos and looks and i’ve been very inspired by luvbridget’s blog lately. She’s always posting pictures of gorgeous lips, so thank you for motivating me to do some looks of my own honey! ❤ Check out her blog, click on here name above 🙂

I primed my lips before applying the colors in these looks.

image

image

This is my poison purple look, MAC “Gunner” & MAC “Violetta” have been used here with a clear lipgloss and bright indigo/purple loose pigment.

image

image

Bright ocean lips! This was created with the NYX Macaroon Lip Stick in “Pistachio“. And i used a loose electric blue sparkle pigment to line my lips and fade the color out! Then i just dabbed a little bit of white/translucent powder in the center of my lips since i wanted this one to be more of a matte look.

I really loved doing something crazy like this, if any of you are inspired to do a fun lip-look send me a link to your post i would love to see what YOU created! Thanks for reading!

Quick compare! FLOWER cream eyeshadow VS. Maybelline 24HR Color Tattoo Cream Eyeshadow!

Hi everyone! I just wanted to do a quick compare & review on a FLOWER cosmetics color play cream eyeshadow vs. A Maybelline 24HR Color Tattoo cream eyeshadow. These both have their pros and cons, since cream shadows in general can be a tricky thing to use. Sometimes the color is just not as pigmented as you’d expect from a creamy shadow, the overall texture may make it harder for you to apply, it doesn’t last quite as long as normal eyeshadow.. Well, hopefully this review will shed some light on the cream eyeshadow situation.

image

The colors i will be using as examples today are Maybelline’s “Bad To The Bronze” and FLOWER’s “Flirty Floret.”

image

Bad To The Bronze” is the pot shown towards the bottom, and “Flirty Floret” is the one towards the top. I would definitely call Maybelline’s more of a champagne/light taupe color, while FLOWER’s is a true bronze brown. As you can see from the picture above, FLOWER’s shadow has more of a whipped light texture, while Maybelline’s is somewhat pressed into the jar making it a bit harder to get a good amount of product.

Here are some swatches:

image

FLOWER PROS:

  • Highly pigmented gorgeous shimmery color.
  • Whipped texture makes it nice to apply.
  • A little goes a LONG way.
  • If there is creasing going on, you can easily smooth it out and fix it.

Maybelline PROS:

  • Longevity
  • Smudge/Smear Proof

It seems like what one is lacking, the other one has covered. So if you are looking for a pigmented easy to apply cream shadow, i would suggest you go with FLOWER’s. If you’re looking for a cream shadow that stays put but isn’t as pigmented & and you don’t mind that any creasing is harder to correct, go with Maybelline’s.

Maybelline Blushed Nudes Night Out Makeup Look!

I got a request the other day from someone saying they wished i would have done some looks with that Maybelline Blushed Nudes palette review i posted recently, so i thought that was a great idea and i should definitley at least post one look with this palette. Here’s what i came up with!

image

image

Sort of a pink, rosey smokey eye. I always start my eyeshadow routine with my MALLY base shadow. It is so creamy, doesn’t crease at all and makes the shadow stick to your lids perfectly for HOURS! One of my personal favorites.

imageimage

The base shadow is the pan to the left. It works very well as a primer but any eyelid primer will work just fine.

Let me show you how a base shadow works for those who aren’t familiar:

image

(The brown shadow shown here is NOT used in this look, it is achieved using only the colors from the blushed nudes palette. This is just used  as an example)

Above are the two shadows in the MALLY palette swatched separately. As you can see, the brown eye shadow is somewhat transparent, it doesn’t look nearly as dark as the color in the actual pan. The base shadow is neutral in color, bright & creamy. Now, let me show you the brown shadow OVER the creamy base shadow.

image

Retail price for JUST the creamy base shadow: $18.00 USD

Purchase it here!

Now that the brown shadow has been applied over the base, it has much better color pay off and it is noticeably darker than the last swatch.

Back to the look: Here are the colors i used from the Maybelline Blushed Nudes Palette

image

In this order i began to apply:

  1. I pretty much just cut my crease with this color and then blended it out so it wasn’t such a harsh line.
  2. I packed this onto my lid, and blended it in with the color i used in my crease.
  3. Traced my outer V with this black color and blended it out, also used on my bottom lash line.
  4. Applied this to my inner corner, and below  near my inner corner on my lower lash line. Blend blend blend!

image

image

You can really achieve some beautiful romantic eyes with this palette. I’ve been loving it so far and here you can see the gorgeous colors in action! You could also go the opposite route and do something with the lighter colors in the palette for more of a daytime look. If you’d like me to do a daytime look for you just leave a comment!
